Hello Everyone!

This week I’ve got infographics on the brain, as well as an uncommonly intuitive marketing automation platform and a killer conference for those of you who’d like to see Boston in June. Sounds dreamy to me . . .

Let’s get to it:

1. 1000 lb. Sentence: “Of all of our inventions for mass communication, pictures still speak the most universally understood language.” – Walt Disney

Mr. Disney is probably one of the few people from the past who wouldn’t be surprised (maybe even underwhelmed) by the strides we’ve made in mass communication since he left us in 1966, and his words about pictures ring as true now as they ever did.

The fact is, most of us are profoundly influenced by the visual, whether we’re aware of it or not. Always have been, always will be. Until we listen to Elon Musk and become cyborgs, anyway. In the meantime, it’s just a very, very good idea to take advantage of this human predilection toward imagery in our marketing.

We’ve been spending more than the usual amount of time discussing the importance of graphics and video lately, since we’re currently rebuilding our website (which we’ll unveil to you upon completion), and we’ve all been devouring visual content and anything relative.

My point is, although we’ve always been fans of video and graphics, they’re enjoying kind of a renaissance around here. So if you’ve been thinking of adding more imagery to your site, exploring video or even breaking things down for your audience with an expertly crafted, eye-pleasing infographic or SlideShare, we need to talk.

2. Win of the Week: OK, this didn’t just happen in the last week, but I consider it a big win for us and a massive win for our clients.

You may or may not know that Solutions 8 is a Digital Marketer Certified Partner, which means that we not only have access to Digital Marketer’s comprehensive library of materials, educational labs and team support, but we’re also committed to sharpening our marketing acumen by taking part in their rich curriculum of nine certification courses, which include:

  • Conversion Funnels & Customer Value Optimization
  • Content Marketing Mastery
  • Paid Traffic & Customer Acquisition Mastery
  • Email Marketing Mastery
  • Social & Community Management
  • Search Marketing Mastery
  • Marketing Analytics & Data Science
  • Testing & Conversion Science
  • Ecommerce Marketing Mastery

Everyone at Solutions 8 is certified in one or more of these core disciplines (Project Manager Stephen Hutson has completed all nine!) so that we can continue to deliver the ingenious strategies, brilliant content and shrewd analytics our clients have come to expect.

3. Hot Tip: We’ve been excited about this (and utilizing it) for a few weeks now and finally decided it’s time to share. Although there are a few great automated marketing platforms out there, we’ve been enjoying the heck out of Klaviyo.

I’ve seen salmon swimming upstream that were less intuitive – this thing just knows what to do. Want a series of automatic re-engagement emails sent out to someone who just abandoned their cart? No problem. Want those emails to cease the moment that person takes a required action? Done.

Seriously, you’ll want to check it out here: Klaviyo? Why-iyo, I’m glad you asked-iyo. . .

4.Event I’d Kill to Attend: SearchLove

Where: Boston, MA

When: June 5-6, 2017

Tickets: Click for pricing.

Presented By: Distilled

Why: Designed especially for in-house and agency SEO’s, marketing managers and business owners, this single-track, one-room event will cover “the latest in search, analytics, content creation, optimising your website, paid promotions and more.”

Featuring digital marketing rock-star speakers like Rand Fishkin, Ross Simmonds and Will Critchlow, attendees will get the benefit of learning and networking in a relaxed, social atmosphere with industry peers and be able to partake in one-on-one website consults with seasoned pros. (Fun after parties both nights, I’m told.)

5. 5-Minute Power Snack: We love and swear by our WordPress website, but nothing’s infallible, which is why we’ve compiled 15 easy, effective ways to speed up WordPress site performance and displayed them oh-so-stylishly in another of our über-engaging infographics.

6.Best-of-the-Week Outside Blog: While we’re on the topic of infographics, if you’re considering making one (or having a pro do it!), you’ll want to make sure the subject matter is compelling. When we’re making custom infographics for clients and want to ensure relevancy and timeliness, we turn to several trusted online content-finding tools.

Piktochart’s 16 Ways to Find Trending Topics for Your Infographic by Mckenna Buckley does a bang-up job listing many of our personal favorites, including Google Alerts, Buzzsumo and Moz, and follows up with usage-optimizing pro tips.

7.One of the Good Ones: This week we’re featuring a cause of great import in the state of Arizona, as well as one of the most rewarding and challenging volunteer opportunities available. Voices for CASA Children is a truly remarkable nonprofit dedicated to giving a voice to abused and neglected children statewide.

CASAs, or Court Appointed Special Advocates, are specially trained volunteers who act in the best interests of the children they work with. Without their much-needed help, kids have been known to fall through the cracks, get lost in the system or suffer legal rulings that do them more harm than good.

Voices for CASA Children offers advocate training, as well as several non-advocate volunteer opportunities. There are also several donation options, which can be made either online or by mail.

8.The Thinker: When you stand alone and sell yourself, you can’t please everyone. But when you’re different, you can last.” Don Rickles

Same time next week!
