Solutions 8 has always had the good fortune of finding talent. It’s no different for our gifted specialist Vivek Gupta, who began his journey in marketing almost by chance.
Computers, computers, computers
From his teenage years, Vivek had been drawn to the world of computers. It was a lifetime dream of his to have an office job where he could indulge in this passion. He’s now doing what he always dreamed of doing and this brings much personal contentment and satisfaction. But he never thought he’d end up in the marketing field. Rather, he thought he would work on the technical side of computers, mainly in networking.
Finding his way onto the Solutions 8 team was easy enough with Vivek’s previous experience at a New Zealand-based digital ads agency. He simply applied for the role of a Google Ads Specialist and after the usual round of interviews, he was selected. His expertise undoubtedly meant it was a no-brainer for the hiring team. Management thought he would be the best candidate to manage Google Ads accounts and interact with client managers.
Vivek strives for perfection and is no stranger to receiving kudos from colleagues on a regular basis through our in-house channel. People at our company applaud his attention to detail and reliability.
A typical workday starts with our star specialist comparing yesterday’s performance to ensure things are on track for all the accounts he manages. Vivek then checks the tasks assigned to him. The working day also includes its fair share of meetings.
Vivek is inspired by his work and he finds enjoyment in everything he does. Since his role is data-driven he is thrilled when he sees the results of optimizations or changes that he makes to his accounts.
Things can sometimes get stressful when a particular strategy doesn’t go to plan and that can be a challenge. Ever the philosopher, Vivek takes it in his stride saying that it’s a part of the game. Over time, he has developed ways to deal with all levels of work stress.
Just as our title suggests, dedication is the most valuable lesson Vivek has learned at any job he has ever had. This quality shines through in his approach to all the tasks he has at Solutions 8 and the entire team knows they can count on such a dedicated team member.
Fun Times
It’s not all work though. When Vivek is not working, his interests are varied. Playing computer games and exploring the stock market are two ways he occupies his free time.
He takes his work home with him and calls it a hobby, citing that Google Ads and the digital marketing field are an important part of who he is. He would go so far as to say he couldn’t possibly live without opening his computer or laptop every day.
When a diligent employee is serious and focused on their objectives, it makes sense that they aim high in life. That is why our specialist Vivek is always adding to his skill set both in his private and professional life.
Cloud computing, programmatic media buying, and communication are just a few of the areas Vivek is keen to dive deeper into. Scuba diving is another such area he would like to master. And exploring more places in India is high on that list, too, especially the mountain areas.
Travel Bug
“I love traveling!” Vivek insists. “I usually plan one or two trips a year. Ladakh is one of my favorite destinations.”
And Vivek would also love to travel abroad. He has never stepped outside his native country—and who would with all the natural beauty in India?—but it is a dream of his. His level of determination is a surefire guarantee he will accomplish this goal sooner rather than later.
In Vivek’s hometown of Kolkata, where he still lives, Vivek shares a home with his mother and other relatives. His older sister is married and lives in the city of Ranchi. It’s not difficult to understand the love he has for his sister! They speak nearly every day and it’s a habit that Vivek cannot do without.
Family Fun
While on the subject of family, other family members play an important part in his life and always have. For instance, when he was a child, one of his favorite memories relates to a birthday he had. Since his birthday is in May and it’s a school holiday, all of Vivek’s aunts and uncles came to visit his home. No one was doing anything in particular, but when he came in from outside that evening, his entire family started singing songs for him. And it has remained one of his best childhood memories to this day!
Weekends are usually filled with household chores at home, perhaps some shopping at the market, and his beloved computers (of course!) One thing Vivek will not be doing at the weekend is reading. He hardly ever reads books.
We won’t hold this against him though since there is something we value and admire in our colleague: his self-esteem. When asked which character from a book he would like to be, Vivek answered without wavering.
“I love being myself. If you ask me which character I’d like to be, I choose myself only.”
Now that sounds like a very confident young man. And to think, Vivek wants to learn to be more confident!
Being Decent
Social issues are close to our specialist’s heart, mental health awareness within Indian families and work environments for instance. It is of the utmost importance to underline the word awareness and Vivek would easily support or set up a charity that focuses on this.
Other curiosities that give us insight into our colleague is that he loves the song ‘Selfmade’ by Sidhu Moose Wala. He loves it so much he considers it the soundtrack of his life.
Our mild-mannered specialist has a pet peeve: He is irritated by people who gossip or spread rumors. We know our colleague is a little shy but did you know he’s absolutely terrified when he hears a dog barking? Looks like you’ll have to get a pet puppy to get over that fear, Vivek!!
He believes in respect and courtesy and wishes that more people would express these two qualities in everyday life. This doesn’t surprise us since Vivek is one of the most humble members of our team. A summary like this is worth its weight in gold and it’s a testament to the wonderful person we work with at Solutions 8.
Last Words
And last but not least, his life story is summed up in his own words in exactly one sentence.
“[I had] lots of struggles after my father passed away, and now I have brought myself out of that tough situation to this stage in my life. I’m proud of myself.”
And so you should be, Vivek!
