If you spend any time on the Solutions 8 YouTube channel, you may have seen Nick Ewing’s face a time or two—likely talking about all things Meta Ads.
As our Senior Meta Ads Strategist, Nick has been instrumental in developing our Meta Ads service and plays an integral role in helping our clients succeed with their Meta Ads campaigns. What does that look like, exactly?
He says his days generally consist of a mixture of client management tasks, strategy buildouts, team trainings, and active management of our Meta Ads client accounts.
And not only does Nick love to share with our internal team the new techniques and strategies he uses to improve Meta Ads performance; he also shares those tips on YouTube to help other agencies, solo marketers, and business owners drive growth using the Meta Ads PPC platform.
Like any job, it has its ups and downs.
Nick is definitely a people person and loves being able to speak with clients directly about their Meta Ads accounts. When campaign performance is off the mark, there is nothing he enjoys more than diving deeply into the numbers to investigate the issue and find a solution.
On the flip side, while Solutions 8 strives to be on the forefront of multi-channel strategy innovation, pay-per-click advertising platforms are continually changing and adding or removing tools and capabilities. Nick says this can make it challenging at times to adjust strategies accordingly—but not to worry, he still manages to roll with the punches and keep our clients happy.
“My proudest moments at work are always related to supporting clients achieve their business goals,” Nick shared. Recently, he and his team were able to help a client that sells apparel go from a negative monthly online revenue to over $100K after just two months of working together. Talk about a win!
Time to relax and unplug
Life is all about balance, and Nick’s favorite way to relax at the end of a long day is “really anything that gets me outside and gets my eyes off the screens.” One of his favorite activities at the end of a long work day is taking his (adorable) Golden Retriever pup Gunner for a hike, which sounds like the perfect balance to a busy week.
Along with hiking, Nick loves backpacking, camping, paddle boarding, snowboarding, and skating, so it’s no surprise that when the weekend comes around, the best place to look for him is in the mountains.
No stranger to breathtaking outdoor scenery, he grew up in a small town called Pincher Creek in Alberta, a province in Western Canada. He currently lives in Calgary, Alberta.
Adventures beyond Canada
Like many of us here at Solutions 8, Nick loves to travel.
So far, his adventures in Latin America have been some of his favorite, most notably Costa Rica; he says he particularly loved the nature and the culture.
His goal is to learn to speak Spanish over the next 12 months, which should come in handy since he would like to continue traveling the LATAM countries. He says a trip to southern Europe is also “definitely” in his future.
Up close and personal
When I asked Nick to tell me something most people wouldn’t know about him, here is what he had to say:
“I’m pretty introverted outside of work and in social situations. I enjoy my alone time and plan to eventually have an acreage to be away from the busyness of the city.”
He says he is “one of those weird people” who doesn’t watch too much TV, which seems to track with his personality. However, he recently read a book titled Empire of the Summer Moon, which he found very interesting. It is about the Comanches, one of the most powerful Indian tribes in American history.
Nick said his favorite quality about himself is either his empathy or his work ethic—very Canadian, he joked—but says his friends and family members would likely describe him as annoyingly structured, especially when traveling, since he’s usually the one who plans everything.
And speaking of family, he told me his dad and grandpa have been huge supporters and inspirations in his life.
It's good to have goals
When he was younger, Nick had a lot of dreams. He imagined one day being a marine biologist, a pilot, a firefighter, and even a game show host!
Today, though his goals may be a little less lofty, he still has his eyes set on the future. His #1 goal is to be able to provide the best life possible for his future family and make sure they are financially comfortable.
If money were no object, Nick said he would probably buy a second home where he could spend time during the winters.
And how would he spend his last day on Earth?
“A sunrise hike to one of my favorite mountains, spending the day with my dog at my family cabin, and cooking dinner over a campfire.”
Sounds like heaven!
