The Challenge: Poor Tracking And Integration, Falling Short Of Marketing Goals

Though Ballsy had a functioning Google Ads campaign, it was set up in a way that was not beneficial to their marketing and analytics goals. One of their primary problems was that conversions were being counted as double, which significantly skewed tracking information and did not allow them to optimize for improvement.

In addition, product subscriptions were not being tracked because of integration issues with the ReCharge recurring billing platform through Shopify. When a customer opted for a subscription purchase, they were taken to the ReCharge app and remained there throughout the checkout process. As a result, those subscription purchases were not tracked.

As an organization, Ballsy also had some specific goals related to digital marketing: They wanted to increase their ROAS (to at least 1.6X spend), scale their business to reach as many people as possible who may be interested in their products, and make sure they were telling the right story about their brand.

Once Solutions 8 determined that the ReCharge app was preventing them from adding the necessary marketing tags (snippets of code that enable tracking), they were able to resolve the problem and focus on adding new outreach campaigns and continually optimizing keyword bids to increase ROAS.

The Solutions 8 team also put into place a full tracking system to ensure Ballsy’s digital marketing goals were being met. They continue to keep a close eye on metrics to determine what’s working and what isn’t, including which touchpoints are impacting visitor engagement and conversion rates. That way, they can implement changes immediately to optimize the overall campaign.

The Result: The Proof Is In The Numbers

Ballsy reached out to Solutions 8 in late summer of 2019. Once their initial issues had been resolved, they began to see results—especially during Black Friday and through the 2019 holiday season.

During that time, Ballsy saw roughly 88.5K clicks and 10K conversions. They spent $31.3K in ad spend and saw a conversion value of $561K. This amounts to a ROAS of 1,790.66%, meaning for every $1 invested they got $17.9 out.
